Cintra Park hockey complex Irrigation

Scope of works

Neverstop successfully designed and delivered the 25L/ps rain cannon irrigation system to apply a whopping 15kl of water in 10mins via 6 post mount rain cannons. The system was independently certified and exceeded the FIH international wet down requirement.

The excess water from the playing surface is recaptured via a perimeter dish drain and returned to a submerged storage tank for treatment and reuse in the irrigation.

A custom designed control panel with SMS start/stop capability handles the pitch drenching sequence with remote management and alarming.

We now maintain this system on quarterly through our PM program.

We were also tasked with facilitating a new 50mm metered potable water supply with 3 x RPZ backflow to the irrigation system and amenities from 400m across adjacent sportsfield.

The pumping/filtration system consists of the following:

• A new wind rated colourbond shed and engineered slab to house equipment
• INCA master PLC with SMS alarming and control of all telemetry including air conditioning
• 38kl pre-treatment storage tank to capture the return water from the pitch
• Grundfos CRN15 4kw vertical multistage pump to 5l/s to treatment system
• Waterform Filternox 5-micron self-backwashing system to prescreen the water
• Waterform UV genius 60 disinfection unit to sterilise the water
• A turbimax insertion meter/sensor is installed to ensure the UV has been able to dose the water correctly.
• A tecfluid flowmat insertion magnetic meter to measure flow and total volume pumped
• 30kl treated irrigation water storage tank
• Grundfos CRN90  37kw vertical multistage pump to 25l/s to supply irrigation cannons
• 6 x Nodolini S45 cannons to 11L/sec each
