The heritage listed green roof project includes, 16x raingardens, 50x water tanks, manicured grass, raised harvest plots for vegetables, fruit trees and aquaculture – all irrigated by recycled stormwater.

Scope of works

  • Water is harvested from upper deck hardstand, turf and garden areas by way of a uniques custom slotted subsurface drainage system to sit over top of the KISSS irrigation matting.
  • 16x Bio retention (raingardens) formed into heritage listed coal chutes act as a pre-filtration of stormwater prior to storage tanks in tunnels below.
  • Harvested water then flows through the raingardens to the below tunnels below where 50 x 5kl slimline water tanks on stands are installed to retain water for reuse in irrigation.
  • A variable speed dual pumping and filtration/disinfection system prepares the water and distributes back up to top deck area for reuse in irrigation.
  • All gardens, harvest plots and landscaped area are irrigated using a KISSS state of the art irrigation system incorporating online management, soil moisture sensors to create a sustainable space.
