Usually in large freestanding vessels varying types of media such as sand, glass, activated carbon and basalt are used to retain particulate within the the media. Surface area is critical to ensure minimal pressure and flow loss through the vessel. Backwashing functions are required to rejuvenate the media and remove the trapped particulate.
Ultra Fine Filtration systems use high pressure pumps to supercharge water pressure and force it through a membrane providing crystal clear water. It is important to understand the water source and implement multiple levels of prefiltration in order to keep the filtration system operational.
